YEREVAN, MAY 2021
The Ardbeg Distillery invites its noble fandom to join them for an online extravaganza and uncover the flavour of their latest limited edition - ‘Ardbeg Scorch’.
Each year the Islay distiller marks the final Saturday of the Fèis Ìle (Festival of Music and Malt) with Ardbeg Day, a global celebration of the Scotch whisky brand, The Spirits Business reported.
Ahead of Ardbeg Day, the Scotch whisky maker has created “Scorch”, matured in heavily charred ex-Bourbon American oak casks. The whisky’s name is inspired by the folk tales relating to Islay’s mythical dragon, bravely slain by a heroic warrior many moons ago.
Ardbeg’s Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden, said: “Ardbeg Scorch is our tribute to the legendary dragon of Islay. By using our most heavily-charred casks, we’ve created a fire-breathing beast of a dram!”
According to the producer, the 46% ABV whisky has aromas of soot and smoke as well as aniseed and patchouli, with flavours of grilled fare, black liquorice and medicinal lozenge on the palate.
The whisky will be released on 27 May. Before that we offer to try Ardbeg Wee Beastie, available on our website.
Fèis Ìle is the ultimate whisky Festival, where each Distillery represents their own unique and fantastic range of whiskies, put on tastings, tours, music entertainment and much more.
